31-10-2008 Dept. of Architecture and Computer Technology, University of Granada Peer-to-Peer Evolutionary AlgorithmsAbstract Peer-to-Peer (P2P) systems form an alternative for building a potentially free virtual supercomputer. Such systems fit with the Evolutionary Computing (EC) demands on computational power when tackling large instances in hard optimization problems. A distributed Evolutionary Algorithm (EA) simultaneously promotes diversity and reduces the response time. Nevertheless, there are still many challenges on the parallelization of EAs in P2P systems. In this talk we present a survey on the state of the art in P2P EAs and our solutions to the main P2P issues such as decentralization, massive scalability or fault tolerance. The CVSL seminars are held on Fridays at 11:30 a.m. in room PLT-2744.
