A Framework for Simulation in Biomedicine

François Bernier, Éric Boivin, François Dinel and Denis Laurendeau

Abstract - APIA, which stands for Actor-Property-Interaction-Architecture, is an Interaction- centric framework whose conceptual model is well adapted for simulating physics-based phenomena in biomedicine and other fields. The paper presents the basic concepts of the APIA framework and describes its basic components. Examples demonstrate that APIA increases the portability, interoperability, reusability, and scalability of models.
