|Approach: Over the past few years, stereoscopic multi-view surface reconstruction approaches have been evaluated in detail. New optimization approaches as well as comparison criteria which are more robust towards surface types, have been proposed. In this research project, we wish to evaluate other criteria and explore the influence of the surface representation mode on the optimization performance. Different surface representation modes include a cloud of points, a depth map, polygonal representation and volumetric representation.
The efficiency of reconstruction, the precision, the robustness towards noise and the ease of managing surface topological changes will be considered in our analysis.
