Positioning system for a 3D scanner: development and quality analysis
Masters
Yoakim Martin
Patrick Hébert (Supervisor)
Approach: This project consists in studying positioning system technologies for a 3D scanner. A self-positioning 3D camera was recently developed in our laboratory. The workspace of this camera is approximately 1m x 1m x 1m. For large volumes (3m x 4m x 2m), an external positioning system must be considered. This project thus aims to evaluate current positioning technologies for metrology applications. We will thus analyze the appropriate technologies and will develop a procedure for quality evaluation. Once the most appropriate technology has been selected, we will then strive to improve this technology for its application to the scanning of large objects.
