Development of a Distributed Master-Slave Architecture for Evolutionary Computations

Marc Dubreuil

Abstract - Given the excessive computational cost needed to solve problems with Evolutionary Computations (EC), parallelism becomes a savior. Most parallel and distributed frameworks for EC use the overly popular island model. In a time where extremely powerful LANs of workstations have never been so cheap, how can it be used to maximize its potential? Considering its strength and drawbacks, the following paper describe how the overlooked master-slave model can be a good alternative for parallel EC.
